I like to use active voice when writing my requirements. In Exercise 6, here's how active voice would look:

1. Travel 30 miles per gallon in the car
2. Travel a maximum of 900 miles per hour in the plane
3. Support 2000 pounds for the elevator cable
4. Light up the dashboard at night
5. When the data cannot be saved the database manager returns an error code
6. The wieght of the cell phone is 1 pound.
